Back to the South: Georgetown Speedway Hosts ‘Blast at the Beach’ Aug. 27

GEORGETOWN, DE – Back to the South.

The Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco returns to South Region competition with both the NJ Quality Drywall Modifieds and Belmont’s Garage Crate 602 Sportsman on Tuesday, August 27 at Delaware’s Georgetown Speedway.

The annual late-summer ‘Blast at the Beach’ is set for the Sussex County venue.

STSS Modifieds battle for 35 laps and a $6,000 winner’s share as the NJ Quality Drywall South Region Round No. 7. The 10th-place finisher receives $1,000, with $500 to take the green.

Walden, N.Y.’s Anthony Perrego holds a 31-point lead over Mat Williamson in South Region competition.

The event also serves as the 17th round of the Ollie’s Overall Championship, which is led by Matt Sheppard.

STSS Crate 602 Sportsman compete in a 25-lap, $2,000-to-win contest, the fifth segment of the Belmont’s Garage South Region.

Pilesgrove Township, N.J.’s Ethan Bill holds a one-point edge over Logan Watt in the STSS Crate 602 Sportsman South Region.

Delaware Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers complete the program.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m., with grandstand gates unlocked at 5 p.m. Hot laps hit the track at 6:20 p.m., with racing at 7:15 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $25 (Adults), $20 (Seniors ages 65 and over and Students ages 13-17), $10 Kids (ages 9-12) and Children 8 and under are FREE.

Pit admission is $45 (ages 13 and up). Kids (ages 6-12) pay $10. Children ages 5 and under pay $2.

Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
