Yankowski Tops Mods, Satterlee captures Fall Clash Late Models, Watson captures Mod Championship

Alex Yankowski took advantage of a front row starting spot by shooting out to the lead at the drop of the green before keeping Anthony Perrego at bay in traffic to win Friday's Modified feature at Georgetown Speedway as part of the opening night of the Mid-Atlantic Championship.

The victory, worth $7,000, was the Covington Township, PA driver's only of the season at the ½-mile facility.

"That finish was too close; I kind of got behind those lapped cars and couldn't really roll around them," Yankowski said. "We had a really good race car tonight. We have a good time when we come down here, so it was nice to pick up a little bit of money and get some notes for the DIRT show."

Paul Mancini and Yankowski led the 27-car field down for the start of the 40-lap feature. Yankowski used the momentum on the top side of the speedway to bolt into the lead off turn two. Mancini then found himself in the middle of a three-wide situation going down the back, with Jordan Watson and Perrego going by on the top and bottom, respectively.

It didn't take too long for the field to see the first caution as right when the second lap got underway, HJ Bunting got turned toward the end of the frontstretch. Over on the backstretch, there was a major development as point leader Billy Pauch Jr. came to a stop and was pushed back to the pit area with a mechanical issue, which had major championship implications as he never returned to the speedway.

On the ensuing restart, Perrego got a launch off the outside and pulled alongside Watson. He first tried to take the position in turns three and four on lap five but it was to no avail.

However, he managed to make the move stick off the top of turn two a lap later to move into the runner-up spot and set his sights on Yankowski.

Just as Yankowski started to catch the back of the field, the second yellow of the night flew on lap 11 after Nick Nash spun going into turn three. When green replaced yellow, Godown wrestled the fourth spot away from Danny Bouc, while Watson attempted to take the second spot from Perrego.

Bouc then had 11th-place starter Alex Payne to deal with as Payne rolled on by off turn two on lap 12. From there, Payne continued his march forward as he got to the outside of Godown but Godown fought back to keep the spot for the moment.

The battle didn't stop there though as Payne kept pounding up top and eventually took the position away off turn four on lap 19. Back up front, Perrego made a dive down the inside of Yankowski going into turn one just past the halfway point while Yankowski attempted to get around two slower cars ahead.
Perrego would attempt similar moves throughout the remainder of the event and even got within three-tenths of Yankowski, but Yankowski kept his composure all the way to the checkered, crossing the line 0.987 seconds ahead of Perrego.
Watson, who won the track championship by eight points over Pauch Jr., Payne and Godown completed the top five.

Watson would secure the 2025 Millman's NAPA Auto Parts Modified track championship by just eight markers over Billy Pauch Jr.

In the 20-lap RUSH Late Model feature, Matt Hill walked away with the win by 3.1 seconds over AJ Miller. Greg Carrico, Robert Smith and Luke Dill trailed at the finish.

Derek Swafford was victorious in the 12-lap Delmarva Chargers feature ahead of Jesse West, Ron Falkner, Tami Collier and Jeff Merryman.

LJ Walbert took down the 12-lap Delaware Super Trucks main event. Chase Carter, Steve Portillo, TJ Williams and Nate Benson followed him across the line.

It was Scott Calhoun picking up the win in the 12-lap Little Lincoln feature in front of Kelly Hastings, Eric Reed, Kirk Lawson and Dylan Betts.

Gregg Satterlee and Mason Zeigler put on a show in a spirited side-by-side duel before Satterlee finally launched off the bottom to clear into the position ten laps from the finish and drive away to the checkered flag in a caution-free Super Late Model feature Friday night at Georgetown Speedway.

The victory, worth $8,000, was the Indiana, PA driver's first this year with the Fall Clash Late Model Series. "We didn't start off the night the greatest; we were a little off in that dash," Satterlee said in victory lane. "But we made some good changes and the car really came to life after a couple laps. I thought at first I was in trouble, but then in the second half I started to change some things with the car. "Him (Zeigler) and I were battling hard. There was a fine line of going too hard or not going hard enough around that bottom. It was kind of latched up on the straightaways, but it didn't really matter where you were. It was all about who could get through the comer and back to it the fastest."

Demetrios Drellos and Trever Feathers led the 20-car field down for the start of the 40-lap main event. Feathers carried the momentum off the top side of turn two to emerge ahead down the backstretch.

However, Drellos wasn't going to give up that easy as he tried to get back to Feathers' inside in turn three, but he wasn't able to get ahead.

Once third-place starter Zeigler finally got Satterlee off his hip, he nearly drove around the inside of both Feathers and Drellos for the lead going into turn one on lap three. While Feathers was able to keep the speed up outside and maintain the position, Zeigler got in front of Drellos for the runner-up spot and went right back to work on Feathers.

It didn't take Zeigler too long to be the race's new leader as he sent his No. 25z inside Feathers at the entrance of turn three and slid up in front of him in the center of the corner.

Once losing the lead, Feathers began to feel the pressure from Drellos, who sailed on by on turn four a lap later.

Up front, Zeigler began to catch the back of the field on lap 15 and it allowed Drellos to chew into his advantage. At the halfway point, the gap was down to under a second, but what both drivers didn't know was that Satterlee was coming like a freight train.

On the next lap, Satterlee got inside Drellos, but Drellos seemed to find another gear up top and used it to hang on to the spot, and the momentum nearly propelled him by Zeigler for the lead off turn four.

Satterlee finally wrestled second away from Drellos on lap 25 and was instantly on Zeigler's rear spoiler as Zeigler struggled to get around the slower car of Billy Pauch Jr, who was running the bottom.

Zeigler eventually dispatched Pauch Jr. to open up some breathing room, but he was not out of the woods yet as Satterlee got around Pauch Jr. quickly and brought Zeigler's advantage down to under three tenths.

Satterlee took his first shot at the lop spot going into turn three, but the move didn't stick as Zeigler had enough pace up top to barely keep the spot. Sat-terlee wasn't done yet though as he hung in with Zeigler for an entire lap before finally breaking through the lead off turn two with ten laps to go.

From there, Satterlee left the field in the dust and crossed under the start-finish line 2.6 seconds ahead of Zeigler. Drel-los, Ross Robinson and Feathers trailed at the finish. Second-place finisher Zeigler, who is in the Fall Clash title fight, felt like he made some mistakes on the setup of his car prior to the feature that cost him a shot at glory. "I think I was better than both of them (Satterlee and Drellos) early in the race; I was on a Sunday stroll," Zeigler said.

"But then it started to get worse. That bottom groove started really taking rubber, and getting into the corner was rough, so I was bad getting in that I couldn't stick the bottom. I felt like if I just pinned the bottom in three and four or one and two protecting, Gregg was just going to drive right around me on the outside. The car was good, but I just goofed up on the right front shock. Hopefully we'll be better at Potomac.

Third-place finisher Drellos, a Northeast Modified veteran whose been dabbling with the Late Model racing, was elated.«To finish behind Gregg and Mason is awesome; I'm not a candle compared to their flame," Drellos said. "I'm just a beginner, and those guys are true professionals. I thought we had something for Mason a little bit in lapped traffic, but then I saw Gregg poke his nose, and he was able to get through the holes better than both of us. That was a fun race."
