Camp Barnes Benefit Stock Car Race Returns to Georgetown Speedway August 26
GEORGETOWN, Del. – One of Delaware’s longest-standing racing traditions will return to the historic Georgetown Speedway on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, when the engines fire for the annual Camp Barnes Benefit Stock Car Race. Each year, the event brings together some of the region’s top competitors, side-by-side racing action, and a community united for a greater cause: supporting Camp Barnes, a free summer camp dedicated to Delaware’s youth.
Fans will see a powerhouse lineup of divisions take to the clay, with the spotlight on the Millman’s NAPA Auto Parts Modifieds and Stockley Speed & Supply Super Late Models, both competing in 25-lap feature events paying $5,600 to win. Joining them on the card will be the Blue Hen Dispose-All 602 Sportsman and the 1st State Chevrolet RUSH Late Models, each chasing a $1,500 top prize, along with popular support divisions including the Delmarva Chargers, Little Lincolns, Delaware Super Trucks, and the Southern Delaware Racing Club.
Adding an extra layer of excitement are two unique sprint-style challenges known as the Pep Lewis Shootouts. The first will see the Big Block Modifieds battle the Super Late Models in a five-lap dash paying $727 to the winner, while the second brings together the 602 Sportsman Modifieds and RUSH Late Models in their own five-lap showdown, also awarding $727.
The evening begins early, with pit gates opening at 4:00 p.m. and spectator gates at 5:00 p.m. Following a drivers’ meeting at 6:00 p.m., the night officially kicks off with the Preston Automotive Group Juicebox Race at 6:15 p.m., giving the youngest competitors their moment on the frontstretch. From there, fans will be treated to hot laps, qualifying heat races, and feature events that will carry the program deep into the night. Along the way, intermission will feature a new addition to the race, the Cops in Karts Challenge, along with a special presentation honoring Preston “Pep” Lewis, the longtime Camp Barnes Benefit Stock Car Race promoter.
Grandstand admission is set at $25 for adults ages 13–64, $20 for seniors 65 and older with valid ID, and $10 for kids ages 7–12, with children six and under admitted free of charge. Pit admission is $40 for adults, $15 for kids ages 7–12, and free for children six and under.
Since its inception, the Camp Barnes Benefit Race has represented far more than a night at the speedway. Each ticket purchased and every lap completed helps ensure that Camp Barnes can continue offering life-changing summer camp experiences at no cost to Delaware children.
The Georgetown Speedway, located at 22206 Speedway Road, at the intersection of U.S. Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Delaware, will once again serve as the stage for an unforgettable night of grassroots racing with a lasting impact.
