Gary Balough Named Grand Marshal for Melvin L. Joseph Memorial at Georgetown Speedway

Georgetown, DE — Georgetown Speedway is proud to announce legendary race car driver Gary Balough as the Grand Marshal for the Melvin L. Joseph Memorial, set for Friday, April 25th, 2025.

Balough, one of the most iconic figures in short track and dirt racing history, will be on hand to celebrate the legacy of Melvin L. Joseph — a pioneer in motorsports and longtime supporter of racing in the region. Fans will have the opportunity to meet Gary Balough, grab autographs, and take photos with the infamous “Batmobile” — the revolutionary Modified race car that changed the sport forever.

“We’re honored to welcome Gary Balough to Georgetown Speedway for such a special night,” said Chad Cathell, General Manager at Georgetown Speedway. “His legacy in racing is undeniable, and having him here with the Batmobile adds something truly unforgettable to this year’s Memorial.”

The Melvin L. Joseph Memorial with the Lucas Oil Late Model Series has become a can’t-miss event in the Mid-Atlantic, drawing top-tier talent and passionate fans year after year. With Balough’s presence, this year’s edition is shaping up to be one of the most memorable yet.

Pit Gates open at 3 pm, with racing scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and bring their memorabilia for autographs.
