Double the Fun: Modifieds, Super Late Models Set for Aug. 3 ‘Summer Thunder Twin 25s

GEORGETOWN, DE – Double the fun.

On Thursday, August 3, Georgetown Speedway ends a long weather-related hiatus with Twin 25s for Millmans NAPA Auto Parts Modifieds and Stockley Speed & Supply Super Late Models. The double-headlined ‘Summer Thunder program presented by Sullivans Landscaping & Maintenance features a pair of 25-lap main events paying $3,500 each to win.

Modifieds continue their NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series championship battle with an increased $3,500 on the line. A draw/redraw format and Short Track Super Series South Region rules will be in effect for the big-block/small-block Modified contingent.

Jordan Watson of Milford, Del., won the most recent Modified event in early June.

Stockley Speed & Supply Super Late Models return to the renovated venue with $3,500 on the line for their 25-lap event. Georgetowns Ross Robinson won the most recent Super Late Model event in April.

Super Late Models will compete under the following rules package:

Minimum weight: 2,350 lbs., with driver, post-race

Tire Rule: Hoosier NLMT2 or harder or American Racer 44 or harder

Time trial within heat-race groups in hot laps; top-six redraw for the feature

AMB Transponders (rentals available)

One-way radio: 454.000

Double-file heat-race restarts; double-file feature restarts through five laps remaining

Completing the ‘Summer Thunder program are the Blue Hen Dispose-All Crate 602 Sportsman ($1,000 to win), Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Delaware Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m., grandstands at 5 p.m., with hot laps at 6:30 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m.
