Inside Line Promotions – GEORGETOWN, Del. (April 11, 2023) – Joey Amantea captured a career-best result at Georgetown Speedway last Friday during the Rapid Tire USAC East Coast Sprint Cars season opener.

Amantea finished third in both a heat race and the main event to earn the podium.

“A lot of it was knocking the rust off,” he said. “In the heat race I messed up on the start and fell back to last. I made my way to third and tracked down second place and the leader. We were really fast.”

Amantea made the feature redraw following his rally in a heat race. He pulled the No. 3 to line up on the inside of the second row in the main event.

“I battled (Briggs) Danner for second for a couple of laps before I got by him,” he said. “I got to (Steven) Snyder Jr. when a caution came out. After restarting I threw a slider and had the lead for a few laps. Kenny Miller found the rubber before anyone else did and blew my doors off. I ran second the majority of the race, but I overcooked my tires so much that going into turn one with two laps to go I missed the rubber and fell to fourth. On the last lap I got back to third and almost to second. Regardless, I was happy we came out of the gate swinging. We led some laps and had speed.”

Next up will be a USAC East Coast Sprint Cars event at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., this Friday.

“I feel more comfortable in the car,” Amantea said. “I love Williams Grove. Just about every time we’ve gone there I’ve been fast. It’s definitely more of a drivers track. I’m just excited. We know we have speed. I have to put myself in a good position and read the track right. I feel confident we can have a great night.”
