Amantea Invading Georgetown Speedway This Friday for USAC East Coast Sprint Cars Opener

Inside Line Promotions – Mt. POCONO, Pa. (April 3, 2023) – Joey Amantea is heading to Delaware this weekend for the Rapid Tire USAC East Coast Sprint Cars season opener.

Rain halted the planned opener in New Jersey last Saturday, making this Friday’s race at Georgetown Speedway in Georgetown the start to the 2023 campaign. It marks the first of two visits to the track this season.

“I’m excited to go back,” he said. “It’s a new track for me and Brian (Zyck) together. I believe we can go and win. There will be a good group of competitive drivers, but I know we have a shot.”

Amantea earned a seventh-place result during his lone visit to Georgetown Speedway in July 2021.

“I know the track is different now,” he said. “They’ve made it a little wider. We were semi-competitive during our last race there. We had a throttle sticking issue, which really hindered the performance in the feature because it was difficult to get on and off the throttle. We still ended up seventh so that was a positive.”

Delaware has been a good state for Amantea in his limited visits to ‘The First State.’ Following his top 10 at Georgetown Speedway in 2021, Amantea topped it last year with a third-place outing at Delaware International Speedway.

“We’ve had some good runs in that state,” he said. “I’m confident we can go after at least a podium. A DNF we had at Delaware last year was because of a mechanical problem. Otherwise we would have contended for the win. This year we’re looking to start off on a high note and see what we can do.”
