NASCAR Star Christopher Bell to Drive Halmar-Friesen Racing Big Block at Georgetown Speedway
Story by Mike Warren - Super DIRT Car Series:
NASCAR Cup Series star Christopher Bell is known for his dirt racing background.
But next week, he’ll take on a new challenge.
The Norman, OK driver will compete in the Delaware Diamond Clash at Georgetown Speedway on Wednesday, May 13, behind the wheel of a Halmar-Friesen Racing Big Block Modified. It’ll be the Norman, OK driver’s first Super DIRTcar Series appearance, just before he competes in the NASCAR All-Star Race at Dover Motor Speedway on Sunday, May 17.
“It’s been a long-time coming,” Bell said. “Stewart and I talked about doing this year’s ago. Originally we thought my debut was going to come at Volusia (Speedway Park) at the (Federated Auto Parts) DIRTcar Nationals three or four years ago. Unfortunately the schedule just didn’t work out, and it was kind of put on the backburner until this year when I started running the truck for him. Now, it’s going to happen.”
While it’ll be Bell’s first time in a Big Block, it won’t be the first time he’s teamed up with Friesen. He drove a Halmar-Friesen Racing truck to a victory at Bristol Motor Speedway earlier this season.
Bell will join Friesen in a stout Delaware Diamond 50 field, along with three-time and defending Series champion Mat Williamson, 10-time Series champion Matt Sheppard, previous Georgetown winner Alex Payne, and more.
As part of this mega-event, fans will also see the World of Outlaws Late Models presented by DIRTvision with former Modified star Tim McCreadie, defending champion Bobby Pierce, his championship rival Nick Hoffman, and many more.
Along with Bell’s appearance, NASCAR Hall of Famer Donnie Allison will be on hand, serving as the event’s Grand Marshal. He’ll also be signing autographs during the night.
