Back To Racing: USAC East Coast Sprint Cars, Millman's NAPA Modifieds Headline May 17 Program

Written by Chris Moore

GEORGETOWN, DE – After a successful invasion from the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, Georgetown Speedway returns to life on Friday, May 17.

The Rapid Tire Services USAC East Coast Sprint Cars make their one and only trip to the Sussex County half-mile oval to co-headline the event with the Millman’s NAPA Modifieds.

The previously scheduled visit for the ‘wingless warriors’ was nixed due to rain back in early April.

In Millman’s NAPA Modified competition, Ringoes, N.J.’s Ryan Godown heads the class with a 32-point advantage over Neshanic Station, N.J.’s Ryan Krachun.

The defending speedway champion has finished in the top five in both of the Millman’s NAPA Modifieds events thus far, including a win in the Mark ‘Coot’ Williams Memorial on March 29.

Walden, N.Y.’s Anthony Perrego sits third in Georgetown points, 37 markers behind Godown. Frenchtown, N.J.’s Billy Pauch Jr. and Wurtsboro, N.Y.’s Danny Creeden rounds out the top five.

The Blue Hen Dispose-All Crate 602 Sportsman, First State Chevrolet RUSH Late Models, Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Delaware Super Trucks, and Feebs Distilling Delmarva Chargers are all on the Friday night card as well.

Gibbstown, N.J.’s Matt Peck leads the Blue Hen Dispose-All Crate 602 Sportsman division standings by just six points following the first two races of the year.

Georgetown, Del.’s Matt Hill picked up the win in the lone First State Chevrolet RUSH Late Model feature event of the 2024 season.

For the May 17 event, pit gates open at 4 p.m. with grandstand gates unlocking at 5 p.m. Cars hit the track for hot laps at 6:20 p.m. with racing slated to begin at 7:15 p.m.

Grandstand Admission is $25 for Adults and $20 for Seniors (ages 65 & up) and Students (ages 13-17). Kids (ages 9-12) are $10 and children 8 and under are admitted FREE.

Pit admission is $40 (ages 13 & up). Kids (ages 6-12) are admitted for $10 and Children ages 5 & under are $2.

The entire night of racing will be broadcast live on FloRacing (www.floracing.tv) via the annual subscription.

Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
