Its Camp Barnes Race Day: 50th Event Takes Place at Georgetown Speedway Tonight

GEORGETOWN, DE – Its Camp Barnes Race Day!

Georgetown Speedway fires to life for its final weekend of racing on the 2022 calendar.

The 50th Camp Barnes Benefit Stock Car Race begins the Mid-Atlantic Championship weekend at the historic Sussex County half-mile.

The J.W. Brown Logging big-block/small-block Modifieds and Super Late Models are both on the Thursday night card, each competing for $5,500 paydays.

‘The Frozen Farmer chipped in an extra $500 for both the Modified and Super Late Model winners, upping their top prizes to $5,500.

The Camp Barnes Benefit Stock Car Race returns to Georgetown, the site of the first-ever Camp Barnes Race in 1951, for the first time since 1957.

WHO TO EXPECT

The J.W. Brown Logging Modifieds kick off the most lucrative dirt racing weekend in the history of the State of Delaware. The Modifieds will be on hand for the entire weekend, culminating in a $25,000-to-win main event on Saturday.

Stars such as Savannah, N.Y.s Matt Sheppard â€“ the most dominant Modified driver in 2022 – will be on hand at Georgetown this weekend along with his closest counterpart, Sprakers, N.Y.s Stewart Friesen.

Other Empire State stars like Anthony Perrego, Mike Mahaney, and Max McLaughlin will be on hand as well as Canadian Mat Williamson.

Theyll take on Georgetown locals such as Jordan & Joseph Watson, H.J. Bunting, and Austin Hubbard.

The New Jersey and Pennsylvania contingent will be strong as well with Ryan Godown, Billy Pauch Jr., and young guns Matt Stangle, Louden Reimert and Brandon Grosso will be joined by Danny Bouc, Craig Von Dohren and Alex Yankowski.

The Super Late Models invade Georgetown Speedway for the first time in 2022, part of a double header weekend for the Super Late Models at Georgetown.

Local favorites Ross and Amanda Robinson will both climb behind the wheel for the weekend along with the likes of Rick Eckert, Trever Feathers and Jamie Lathroum among others will battle for 25-laps and the $5,500 top prize.

ALSO IN ACTION

The full night of racing includes the Blue Hen Dispose-All Crate 602 Sportsman ($1,500-to-win), First State Chevrolet RUSH Late Models ($1,500-to-win), Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Little Lincolns, Delaware Super Trucks, and Delmarva Chargers.

The Camp Barnes Benefit Race will not carry Georgetown Speedway points for the J.W. Brown Logging Modifieds, Blue Hen Dispose-All Crate 602 Sportsman, and First State Chevrolet RUSH Late Models.

GATES AND PRICES

Pit gates open at 3 p.m. Grandstand gates will be unlocked at 4 p.m. Hot laps hit the track at 6 p.m., with racing at 7 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $20 (Adults), $16 (Seniors ages 65 and up) & Students (ages 13-17), $10 (Kids ages 9-12) and Children 8 and under are FREE.

Pit admission is $40 (ages 13 and up), $10 (Kids ages 6-12) and $2 (Children ages 5 and under).

Previous Camp Barnes winners at Georgetown include Dick Kauffman (September 18, 1951); Ralph Moody (June 30, 1952); Ken Marriott (July 23, 1953); Frankie Schneider (July 30, 1954); Paul Walker (August 6, 1955 & June 29, 1956); and Pee Wee Poblets (June 21, 1957).
