PA Posse: Watt & Toth Lead Sunoco Championship Standings into Georgetown Friday

GEORGETOWN, DE – The Sunoco Championship Series at Georgetown Speedway is winding down and the ‘PA Posse sits atop the standings for both the Chesapeake Paving Modifieds and Blue Hen Dispose-All Crate 602 Sportsman.

Racing resumes at Georgetown this Friday (Oct. 1) with the Chesapeake Paving Modifieds and Blue Hen Dispose-All Crate 602 Sportsman taking part in their second-to-last points-paying races of 2021.

Boyertown, Pa.s Ryan Watt sits atop the big-block/small-block Modified point battle, vying for the $2,500 championship. Watt and the Ron Roberts Racing No. 14W have one win and five top-10 finishes in six starts to lead Milford, Del.s H.J. Bunting by 47 points (493-446).

Joseph Watson, also of Milford, Del., is third (421) followed by Matt Stangle of Neshanic, N.J., (411) and Billy Pauch Jr. of Frenchtown, N.J. (350).

This Fridays (Oct. 1) event and the Mid-Atlantic Championship event on Oct. 30 are the final two points-paying races, with the latter offering championship points based on the 150-point structure.

In the Blue Hen Dispose-All Crate 602 Sportsman ranks, Newtown, Pa.s Joe Toth leads Adam White of Laurel, Del., by 46 points (280-234). Greg Humlhanz of Chalfont, Pa., (190), Brad Trice of Parsonsburg, Md., (182) and Ryan Simmons of Cream Ridge, N.J., (173) complete the front five.

Like their Modified counterparts, the Crate 602 Sportsman have two events remaining in the title chase: Oct. 1 and Oct. 30.

First State Chevrolet RUSH Late Models are not in competition until Oct. 29. Trevor Collins holds a 59-point lead in that divisions title fight.

This Friday night (Oct. 1), the Chesapeake Paving Modifieds race 25 laps for $3,000 to win, joined by the Rapid Tire USAC East Coast Sprint Cars battling for an increased $2,000 top prize in a 25-lap main. Blue Hen Dispose-All Crate 602 Sportsman run 20 laps with $1,000 going to the winner.

Filling out the program are 12-lap features for Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Little Lincolns, Delaware Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. with the grandstands opening at 5 p.m. Hot laps are set to begin at 6:20 p.m. with racing following at 7:15 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $20 for Adults, $16 for Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17). Kids (ages 9-12) are $10 and Children eight and under are admitted FREE.

Pit admission is $35 (ages 13 and up), $10 for Kids (ages 6-12) and $2 for Children 5 and under.

The event will be streamed live on FloRacing (www.floracing.tv) as part of the annual subscription.

Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
