$5 Grandstand Admission for Georgetown Speedway Fan Appreciation Night Thursday, August 15

GEORGETOWN, DE – They say $5 wont get you much these
days.

On Thursday, August 15, it will. For the first time, Georgetown
Speedway will host a ‘Fan Appreciation Night offering $5 grandstand admission
for fans. This first-time happening will reward loyal supporters of the
speedway and introduce new faces into the grandstand at the historic Sussex
County oval.

RUSH Late
Models headline the program, competing over a distance of 25 laps for a very
hefty $2,000 to win!

The RUSH-sanctioned
Late Model division makes its fourth Georgetown appearance of 2019. Winners
have included Michael Duritsky (March 17), Max Blair (April 18) and Matt Hill
(June 29).

Chesapeake
Paving/J.W. Brown Trucking Crate 602 Sportsman will compete in a 20-lap race
paying the winner $1,000.

Crate 602
Sportsman winners thus far in 2019 have included Adam McAuliffe (March 16), Joe
Toth (May 17) and Scott Hitchens (July 26).

Also on the
card are 12-lap features for the Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Little
Lincolns, Delmarva Chargers and Delaware Super Trucks.

Gates will
open at 5 p.m. Hot laps will be called at 6:40 p.m., with racing at 7:30 p.m.

Grandstand
admission is $5. Kids 8 and under will be admitted FREE.

Pit admission
is $35 for ages 13 and up. Kids (ages 6-12) pay $10. Children 5 and under pay
$2.

Originally,
the August 15 date had been reserved for a Super Late Model event offering
$12,000 to the winner. This event has been scrapped due to very unhealthy car
counts for the division across Delmarva and beyond.

The most
recent event for the division at Georgetown on June 29 paying $3,500 to win
drew just 11 Super Late Models.

Across the
region, Md.s Potomac Speedway has attracted 12 and 10 Super Late Models, respectively,
in its last two events. Neighboring Delaware International Speedway in Delmar
has averaged 8-10 cars. Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway had just 10 cars start the
main on July 20. Bedford (Pa.) Speedways typically well attended Fair Race on July
27 pulled 11 Super Late Models.

“Tim
(Christman, event co-promoter) and I looked at the health of the division in
the region and we felt we would not be able to assemble a field worthy of a $30
ticket for the fans,â Georgetown promoter Brett Deyo said. “There just arent
enough Super Late Models actively participating in events.â

Super Late
Models will remain part of the Mid-Atlantic Weekend two-day event at Georgetown
Friday-Saturday Nov. 1-2.

Georgetown
Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the
intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles
from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
